Four people have been arrested in connection with what police believe was a homicide in St. John’s this morning.
The man’s body was found in the area of Golf Avenue, just north of St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital.
The first signs of trouble came around 11 a.m., with the RNC issuing an advisory for residents of that area to “shelter in place” due to a potential weapons offence.
They responded and drew their guns on a home, demanding the occupants come out.
They did — two men and two women — and were taken into custody.
The shelter-in-place warning was lifted a short time later.
During a news briefing this afternoon, RNC Const. James Cadigan could release few details beyond the fact that they believe there was an altercation and the victim was targeted.
Cadigan says any video footage from the area this morning could assist with the investigation.
A police presence will remain in the area of Golf Avenue, Rickett’s Road, St. Clare Avenue and Army Street as investigators go about their work.
The victim’s name was not released, and it’s unclear when any of the four suspects might appear in court.
