RCMP in Lewisporte are hoping the public can help them identify several suspects believed to be responsible for a recent crime spree in the area.
Police have responded to over a half a dozen incidents over the past two weeks involving break and enters to local businesses, churches, vehicles and community spaces.
In most incidents, the suspects forced their way into the buildings and took off with a quantity of cash.
The thieves weren’t successful in all their attempts though—in the early morning hours of July 14, two people managed to break into the fire hall in Boyd’s Cove, with a third suspect standing watch outside. All three scurried away when a security alarm went off and they left empty handed.
At each scene, a small white or grey car was caught on surveillance with a crowbar used in nearly every attempt to gain entry.
Images of two masked suspects have been released in hopes of identifying the culprits. One has a slim build and is seen wearing jogging pants and rubber boots. The other, who is of a heavier build, was wearing jogging pants and sneakers.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the authorities.
