Nominations have closed and the candidates are in place for the upcoming byelection in the district of Waterford Valley.
Nicole Boland will represent the NDP and Jamie Korab will carry the Liberal banner, while Jessie Wilkins is in the running for the PCs.
Byelection day is set for August 22nd, with advance polls opening a week prior on August 15th.
Special ballot voting is also now available in the district.
Residents can request a vote-by-mail special ballot kit by visiting the Elections Newfoundland and Labrador website, or they may vote in person at the Elections NL District Returning Office at 702 Water St., or head office at 24 Stavanger Dr.
The deadline to request a vote-by-mail special ballot kit, or to vote in person by special ballot is Aug. 15 at 6 p.m.
The byelection became necessary when the longtime MHA for the area, Tom Osborne, recently announced his retirement.
The Tories have won two of the last three byelections in the province.
The current seat count in the House of Assembly includes 21 governing Liberal MHAs, 14 PCs, 2 New Democrats, 2 Independent members, plus the one seat to be filled.
