Hundreds of basketball players from across the country will descend on the capital city over the next week to compete for two national championships.
The 2024 Canada Basketball U-15 and U-17 women’s tourneys will take place from Monday until next Saturday on MUN’s St. John’s campus.
The roughly 300 players, coaches and managers will begin arriving over the weekend ahead of games to be played at the physical education building and Field House.
Organizers note the participants will stay in MUN residences, eat in the dining hall and use the university’s facilities similarly to next year during the 2025 Canada Summer Games.
About 100 volunteers and hundreds of parents and supporters are also expected in the city for next week’s championships.
Tournament and day passes can be purchased at MUN’s Human Kinetics and Recreation main lobby on Monday.
A full schedule of games can be found online.
Games will also be livestreamed on the Canada Basketball YouTube page.
