Hockey fans in St. John’s will get the chance to be up close and personal with the stars this evening at the MUN Signal Hill Campus.
A Fan Fest, hosted by Montreal Canadiens’ Alex Newhook, will include autographs, photo ops, a Q&A session and giveaways.
It’s part of Newhook’s charity golf classic, taking place at Bally Haly tomorrow afternoon.
Newhook, fellow Newfoundlander and Devils forward Dawson Mercer, Habs players Josh Anderson, Justin Barron and Jayden Struble, Maggie Connors from the PWHL Toronto franchise and former Maple Leafs goalie Curtis ‘CuJo’ Joseph will all be on hand for the event.
Newhook told VOCM News that it’s a cool opportunity for fans to see the personal side of some of their favourite players.
“You see us on the ice, you see us on the TV screen, but obviously it’s more than that,” he said. “Talking about CuJo, [you] kind of see the differences between the NHL today versus what it was when he was around. It should be a lot of fun.”
Those interested must have tickets to attend the event. Proceeds will go towards several local charities.
Newhook’s fundraising efforts continue tomorrow with a charity golf tournament at Bally Haly tomorrow.
