The host society for the 2025 Canada Games in St. John’s is putting out a call for volunteers to help run the sport showcase. They launched the portal at a news conference at St. John’s City Hall this morning.
They’re looking for about 5,000 volunteers to help with the event, which takes place next August. They need people at virtually every stage, from transportation and food services to minor officials and photographers. Over 500 bilingual volunteers will also be recruited.
Games Co-chairs Kim Keating and Karl Smith say there are over 150 different roles and 30,000 hours of volunteer shifts to fill.
They note that the program, presented by Atlantic Lottery, is crucial in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the Games.
Those who commit a minimum of 32 hours during Games time will receive comprehensive training and orientation, a uniform, and an accreditation badge.
