Gord Delaney has done just about all there is to do at the Royal St. John’s Regatta in his 30 years at the pond as coxswain, rower and just about everything else.
His mom, Lillie, passed away from cancer in 2000, prompting the “Lillies for Lillie” campaign to raise money in her memory and help fight cancer.
Now, one of the racing shells at Quid Vidi bears her name.
“We have the Miss Tubular and back in the day it was the Miss Molson and Miss Labatt and so on. She was a classy woman so we called it the “Miss Lillie” and we christened it last week.” he told the Tim Powers Show on VOCM
Delaney picked up second place in yesterdays Men’s championship race with East Coast Kia, serving as coxswain.
