A man who was rescued from his burning vehicle in Torbay late last night faces a raft of charges including drunk driving and assaulting a police officer.
The SUV went up in flames after rolling over on Torbay Road next to the fire hall at about 11:00. Firefighters, after extinguishing the fire, found the driver nearby. He had been pulled from the car by another person who was driving in the area.
RNC say the 30-year-old man was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The Port Blandford resident has been charged with refusing the breathalyzer, assaulting a police officer, uttering threats to cause harm and threatening to damage property.
He was held in custody for a court appearance today.
The individual who rescued the driver will speak with the Tim Powers Show today at 4:40pm on VOCM.
