A man trying to out run the law in Happy Valley-Goose Bay didn’t get too far thanks to one four legged RCMP officer.
Police responded to an assault in the town just after 9 p.m. Saturday night, but the suspect, Roderick Tshakapesh, took off on foot.
It didn’t take long for police service dog Phox to track down the 35-year-old, who was hiding out in a nearby wooded area.
The man was taken into custody without incident and charged with assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats, and failure to comply with a release order.
Tshakapesh remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 26.
