A driver who was prohibited from being behind the wheel took police on a wild goose chase after officers attempted to pull him over in Bay Roberts.
RCMP flashed the lights on the vehicle on Wednesday afternoon, but the driver hit the gas instead of the brake. Officers did not chase the vehicle that took off at a high rate of speed.
It wasn’t long after that the car was seen going down an ATV trail. The driver and the passenger got out and ran into the woods.
Police dog Marlow lead police right to the suspects who were hiding in the bushes.
Both were arrested, but the passenger was released without charge.
The driver, 23-year-old Austin Nichols, was taken into custody and charge with operating a vehicle while prohibited and flight from police.
He appeared in court earlier today.
