The Mayor of Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove says a fire that’s forced the closure of Chafe’s Landing restaurant for the remainder of the season is a blow to the local tourism industry.
Ron Doyle says Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove remains a favoured tourist destination with lots to offer, but Chafe’s was a popular stop for people visiting the town.
Doyle says Todd and Angela Chafe are determined and getting plenty of community support and he expects the owners will rally and return to business next season.
He says the fire is just the latest blow to the community.
They also had a recent fire at the community centre which forced the cancellation of a couple of summer activities. “This on top of it is a real blow to the community” says Doyle, “but knowing Todd and Angela, they’ll be back bigger and better than ever. They’re two strong people.”
