The CRTC is expanding the ability for internet providers to sell service over the networks of larger telecommunications companies.
It’s hoped that the move will improve access to affordable Internet services to Canadians.
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission says the decision will provide greater choice to Canadians looking for more affordable, higher-speed Internet services by allowing competitors to use the fibre networks of larger companies.
It expands on a ruling made last year that temporarily allowed competitors access to the fibre networks of Bell and Telus.
