Volunteer firefighters from several departments came together this week to help rescue a wayward dog that had tumbled over a high cliff on the Eagle’s Walk Trail near Salmon Cove.
Members of the Victoria, and Salmon Cove / Perry’s Cove fire departments searched the area and found the owner in the Freshwater animal pasture.
The Harbour Grace Fire Brigade, which is equipped for cold water rescue, were then called in to rescue Joey the golden doodle from the rocks at the bottom of a sheer cliff.
The dog was reunited with his owner and appears none the worse for his ordeal.
