The new Canning Bridge in Marystown will include new underground infrastructure to replace the existing lines. The contract has already been signed and the work started.

The region will be served by a Bailey bridge starting next June, with a permanent structure to be in place a couple of years later.

Mayor Brian Keating says the federal and provincial governments are funding the project.

That system serves over 50 per cent of Marystown from the south side of town to Little Bay.
