Anything that can get the seniors involved in their community is good for them, says the manager of Alderwood Estates Seniors Complex in Witless Bay.
The home was busier than usual Tuesday evening as families walked through a haunted house put together by community members and acted in by the residents of the home.

To make the haunting even more real, local funeral home director, Joe Ryan, backed his hearse into the front porch and blared scary music from his speakers. He says the seniors really appreciate everyone coming together and that it means a lot both for the community and the seniors who don’t always get out a lot.
Ryan says they enjoy seeing the kids, and when they can scare the kids they love it.
The people who entered donated money as they walked through. All the funds collected will go towards recreational programming at the home.
One person who appreciated the hard work that went into the night was Preston Brazil. He was also happy to see his aunt dressed as a clown. He says it was well put together and they all did a good job.
