Ernesto has regained hurricane status and will bring a dumping of rain as it passes along the southeast coast of the island.
Environment Canada has issued rainfall warnings for the Avalon, with anywhere from 50 to 70 mm once all is said and done.
Meteorologist Dale Foote says the category 1 storm will not linger, and things should be dried out by tomorrow.
That said, rainfall will be fast and furious on the Avalon later this evening.
Foote says the area could see 20 to 25 mm an hour this evening, but the storm will pass by fairly quickly. Rain is in store for areas off the Avalon, with amounts ranging from 4 mm to 15 mm.
