The well-travelled cruise ship Serenade of the Seas docked in St. John’s early this morning.
Many of the vessel’s nearly 2,500 passengers have spent the last eight months sailing around the world, and arrived in the city a couple days ahead of schedule.
That was due to the cancellation of a stop in Greenland due to poor weather.
The passengers and crew may not see the sun today, but they will get a taste of the rain, drizzle and fog the city and province are famous for.
Royal Caribbean’s inaugural nine-month cruise has been an internet sensation since the ship left its home port of Miami in December of last year.
The global journey has included visits to all seven continents with stops at 150 ports in 65 countries.
The Serenade of the Seas is scheduled to depart for Halifax at 5 p.m.
She returns to Miami on September 10.
