Almost a dozen child pornography charges have been laid against a man from Irishtown, on Newfoundland’s west coast.
Fifty-six-year-old Todd Byrne was arrested a week ago following a lengthy investigation by the combined RNC and RCMP child exploitation team.
Police searched a home in Irishtown back in December after receiving reports of online child exploitation activity, leading to electronic devices being seized and analyzed.
That resulted in Byrne’s arrest on Aug. 22.
He was charged with nine counts of possessing child pornography, plus one count each of transmitting and accessing the illegal and disturbing material.
Police say Byrne has been released on conditions, with public safety in mind, and is scheduled to appear in Corner Brook provincial court on Oct. 29.
