The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary had a busy labour day weekend with over 400 tickets being issued, the majority of which were for speeding.
The Constabulary says 17 vehicles were seized and 19 driver’s licenses were suspended. Three drivers were charged with impaired, and three others were found to be impaired and while charges weren’t warranted they did have their licenses suspended for seven days.
Numerous instances of excessive speeding were identified – including a driver going 165 km/h on the TCH on the northeast Avalon.
On the West Coast specifically, one driver was charged with impaired, suspected methamphetamine was seized, and numerous tickets were issued.
In the Lab City region, radar enforcement resulted in 43 tickets.
