The Department of Education says interim measures are in place at E.A. Butler All Grade in McKays as they work to put a permanent administrative team in place.
The department was responding to questions from VOCM News about key administrative positions at the school being vacant, and teacher shortages.
They say due to privacy concerns, they cannot disclose any information about the circumstances related to the vacancies.
However, they can confirm that as of this week the principal and assistant principal positions have been filled on a short-term basis.
A permanent team is expected to be in place as soon as the recruitment process is finalized.
Government says additional substitute teachers for the school have been approved, and there’s a new job posting for a full-time permanent substitute teacher for the school to assist with staffing challenges.
They anticipate that the school will be fully staffed in a couple of weeks, and updates are being shared with parents.
The department notes that classes are continuing at the school at this time, and rescheduling is expected to be complete soon.
