The MHA for the Torngat Mountains says as the people of Sheshatshiu seek a path forward, to always know they are not alone.
Lela Evans met with Chief Eugene Hart on Thursday to express her support to the community of Sheshatshiu as they struggle with a suicide crisis.
On Thursday, the community buried a 20-year-old woman who died by suicide over the weekend. There have been ten other suicide attempts in the small, tight-knit community over the past week. Evans says the PC caucus and people throughout the province are heartbroken as they realize the grief and pain the people of Sheshatshiu are facing.
She says they’re offering Chief Hart and the community any support they can give.
Evans says we wanted everyone in the community to know that people across the province far and beyond are grieving, and standing beside them.
