The provincial government is moving ahead with the next steps of establishing 12 new pre-kindergarten programs across the province.

Government is looking for expressions of interest from non-profits to operate one, or more, of 12 site locations for the program.

The programs, which will operate out of schools, will be offered year-round and after school hours.

There are currently 34 pre-kindergarten programs in the province, resulting in some 600 childcare spaces.

The goal is to create 3,000 childcare spaces through the initiative by the end of March 2026.

Applications are being accepted until October 30.
