Police confirm that human remains have been found on the scene of a fire at the Driftwood Inn in Deer Lake on the weekend.
Initial reports indicated that all guests were believed to have been accounted for.
RCMP this morning located human remains at the scene of the fire and have confirmed that they belong to a 77-year-old American man who had not been seen since Friday evening.
Eugene Earl Spoon of Kansas was visiting the province on a hunting trip.
The scene is being held and the continuing investigation now includes the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office.
