A man the RCMP call a “prolific offender” has been arrested and charged by Deer Lake RCMP in connection with a list of new offences.
Thirty-six-year-old Archibald Billard was arrested after being chased by police on foot when he ran from a home on Middle Road in Deer Lake on Thursday.
A day earlier, police noticed Billard, who was driving while prohibited, speeding on the Trans Canada near St. Judes at speeds of up to 170 km/h.
RCMP say Billard refused to pull over for police on two different occasions, and sped away in a dangerous manner. Officers chose not to pursue Billard in the interest of public safety.
Billard appeared in court on Friday on two counts each of dangerous driving and flight from police. He’s also facing charges of driving while prohibited, and two counts of breach of a court order.
