An ad hoc committee of Memorial University’s Senate is inviting alumni to have their say after the Ode to Newfoundland was dropped from MUN convocation ceremonies.
The decision drew widespread criticism, even prompting MHAs to stand in the House of Assembly to sing the Ode.
Now the university senate is considering whether the Ode should be brought back.
The senate is asking alumni a series of questions including what the Ode means to them, and whether it should be returned as part of MUN convocation events.
Consultation sessions with alumni are also planned for November 21 and 28.
