The co-chair of Equal Voice NL believes social media and misinformation played a major role in the US Presidential election and may have been a motivating factor in getting more young people to support Donald Trump.

Kate Cadigan says most young people get their information through a variety of social media platforms, and it raises serious questions about the nature of online political discourse.

“That’s a lesson we can certainly learn from this election and how we can monitor that moving forward,” Cadigan told Tim Powers on VOCM. “The facts are out there instead of he said, she said on social media.”
