Old man winter appears set to arrive this weekend with snow in the forecast for several areas of Newfoundland.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement that covers all the way from Gros Morne National Park on the west coast to St. John’s and the northeast Avalon Peninsula, with the potential for the first significant snowfall of the winter.
Meteorologist Mike Vandenburgh says while they are looking at some snowfall across the island, there is some uncertainty when it comes to timing and amounts.
The system was expected to begin moving into western and central parts of the island Friday night.
Snow is a good possibility on the Avalon by Saturday afternoon or evening with rain closer to the coastline.
