The Crown and defence are on the same page when it comes to how much time Nicholas Villeneuve should spend in prison.
The now 26-year-old was convicted yesterday on two counts each of impaired driving causing death and impaired driving causing bodily harm.
It’s in connection with the 2019 crash near Gander that killed John and Sandra Lush and seriously injured their daughter and her boyfriend.
The Crown is seeking five-and-a-half to six years in prison, with a seven-year driving ban, while the defence countered with five years in prison and five-year ban from driving.
Villeneuve was also taken into custody yesterday for the first time since being charged in November of 2019.
He had been free on conditions during his first trial, which ended in acquittal, and during appeals in this province and to the Supreme Court of Canada.
Provincial Court Judge Jacqueline Jenkins is scheduled to sentence Villeneuve on December 10.
