Saturday marks the return of VOCM’s annual Dial-a-Carol.

Listeners can call from 1-6 p.m. and request a favourite Christmas song and make a pledge in support of the VOCM Cares Foundation.

Proceeds will go toward the annual VOCM Happy Tree campaign which also kicks off tomorrow at the Avalon Mall.

In past years, Dial-a-Carol was held on a Sunday afternoon, following the annual St. John’s Santa Claus Parade.

But Sarah Newell, development co-ordinator with VOCM Cares, says the decision was made this year to hold both the Happy Tree launch and Dial-a-Carol back to back.

“Seeing as a lot of the proceeds go towards Happy Tree, we just thought it was a much better fit,” she said. “It’s a very festive day around here, so we start off at the mall with the whole Happy Tree celebration and then we’re popping back over here for a day of Christmas carols and fun.”
