The Chair of Hospitality NL is excited about the introduction of a new direct flight between St. John’s and Paris, France.
The province has long had deep connections to France through neighbouring St. Pierre et Miquelon, a department of France.
She says HNL has had a close partnership with tourism officials in St. Pierre et Miquelon for some time, and she expects the route will make it easier for residents of the French isles to visit continental France.
But, says Bourden, it will also benefit local tourism operators as well.
“This is a way for us to build our non-resident visitorship, not just in the core season.” Bourden is particularly pleased that the new route will incorporate the all-important shoulder seasons which is essential to growing tourism potential.
