There’s still work that needs to be done to address safety concerns in the capital city.
That’s according to St. John’s Mayor Danny Breen, who was responding to a recent resident satisfaction report conducted by MQO.
The survey showed that nearly one-third of respondents from wards two and three – which include the city center and downtown, feel that St. John’s is unsafe.
Breen says the city is generally safe, but he recognizes that work still needs to be done.
“I see the safety issue as being one that we need to continue to address. We work very closely with the RNC and with the provincial government who have responsibility for policing. And I think that we’re seeing some investments being made by them,” said Breen.
