Canada’s Premiers have written Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to request a meeting to discuss Canada-US relations.
The letter, which was sent to the PM yesterday, asks for a meeting on the topic “as soon as possible.”
At their meeting on November 20, it was agreed that they need to meet “urgently” to discuss a team Canada approach to engaging with the incoming Trump administration on topics such as trade, secure borders, defence, and cross-border supply chains.
The Premiers are also looking for clarity from Trudeau on how he plans to include and engage them as the country enters a review of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement, including which cabinet ministers will lead the charge.
The letter concludes by stressing the importance of acting now as they work to “seize this opportunity to grow and strengthen our historic partnership with the US.”
