The Brad Gushue rink remains undefeated after another win against long-time rival Reid Carruthers.
Gushue got off to a solid start, capitalizing on mistakes by Carruthers, taking a 5-0 lead after three ends.
Carruthers came back with three points afterwards, but it wasn’t enough as Gushue eventually captured his second win 6-3.
Gushue said it’s good to get two solid wins in front of a hometown crowd.
“Generally a three that early you can really control and dictate the game a little bit more, and then we did that and we played a good end after that and got a steal of two. Really from that point on it was about not making any big mistakes. A five-point lead at this level is usually pretty comfortable, but you just can’t make any big mistakes and we didn’t do that,” he said.
Gushue plays again tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. island time.
