It will be early in the new year before the new Mews Centre finally opens to the public.

The new, modern facility was scheduled to be open to the public last fall, but the date kept getting pushed forward due to a variety of issues.

Commissioning is now taking place says Mayor Danny Breen, a process that ensures everything is up to snuff, but some issues were discovered.

It’s a fairly significant process,” says Breen. “It’s now testing all the systems and making sure everything is working before you open up. This phase is usually pretty drawn-out, and when you run into problems it slows down the process even more.”

The city is now looking at a possible opening date of January or February if all goes well.
