Three people charged with a grisly murder in Bay Roberts two months ago were briefly back in provincial court this morning.
Forty-one-year-old Matthew Kavanagh and 28-year-old Stephanie Noftall, both of Harbour Grace, and 34-year-old Terry Cole of Carbonear face one count each of first-degree murder, and indecently or improperly interfering with a body.
The name of the victim, a 42-year-old man from Spaniard’s Bay, has not been released.
His remains were found on Sept. 30 in a burned-out pickup on Country Road in Bay Roberts. That was followed five days later by the arrests of the suspects at a home on Gardner Place in Harbour Grace. The takedown forced area residents to shelter in place for hours as police surrounded the home until the three were coaxed out and taken into custody without incident.
They once again appeared in Harbour Grace provincial court this morning by video from HMP, Clarenville and Stephenville, with the Crown advising that it will provide all disclosure in its possession to the defence within a week.
Meanwhile, the suspects are subject to no-contact orders involving about a dozen people on the witness list, as well as each other.
The case is now adjourned until the new year, with the next court date set for Jan. 8.
