The Canadian Red Cross has stepped in after seven students were displaced by fire in St. John’s.
Crews responded to a home on Byron Street in the capital city yesterday.
According to Platoon Chief Dean Foley, most of the damage was contained to the living room.
All occupants appeared to be okay, however one man was transported to hospital as a precaution for smoke inhalation.
The Red Cross says emergency clothes and food have been provided to six of the international students who occupied the home and similar help will be offered to the seventh student who was sent to hospital.
Six people were in the home at the time. All made it out of the house before fire crews arrived.
