The Federation of School Councils is applauding the new cell phone policy for schools across the province set to come into effect on January 6th.
President Don Coombs says it’s something they’ve been calling for for some time.
He says thousands of people from school administrators to teachers to students themselves provided feedback resulting in a few tweaks to the policy.
“Is everybody happy with the decision? No,” says Coombs, “but we wouldn’t expect them to be.” He calls it a great start, when it comes to the use of cell phones in schools. “I compliment all those involved in making this decision.”
