Opposition Leader Ches Crosbie is welcoming word that Auditor General Julia Mullaley is heeding his call for an investigation into the province’s marijuana industry.
The AG will examine a number of aspects of the local industry including Canopy Growth’s $40-million supply contract.
That’s something Crosbie had been grilling the provincial government on in the House of Assembly.
He says he’s pleased. He sent the AG a letter on the matter in November asking for an investigation, and since then, Crosbie says, even more issues have come to light.
Crosbie says there are some serious questions surrounding government not complying with the terms of the contract with Canopy Growth, which he says requires Canopy to own the land and build the facility.
Instead, says Crosbie, a numbered company owns the land and is building the facility. He wants to know how that happened.
