NL Health Services is conducting an internal review of the events leading up to the death of a patient at the Waterford Hospital last week.
Thirty-year-old Thomas Parsley, who was also a patient at the Waterford, has been charged with 2nd degree murder after the 66-year-old victim succumbed to injuries after he was attacked.
The health authority is hoping the review will identify any gaps in care and protocols so corrective measures can be taken.
