The province’s minister of finance believes 2024 was a good year overall for Newfoundland and Labrador economically.
Siobhan Coady acknowledges that it has been a challenging year for a lot of people, and as finance minister it can be challenging to find the right balance in terms of supporting those who need it.
But, on the whole, she believes there are several indicators that point to the province heading in the right direction.
Examples of “good growth,” according to Coady, can be seen in several areas such as a 3.3 per cent increase in the province’s GDP, retail sales, automobile sales, and increased housing starts.
