Opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre released a campaign-style video statement following the Prime Minister’s announcement.
He says the problem is not just with Justin Trudeau, but with the entire Liberal caucus, blaming them for introducing the carbon tax.
“Every Liberal MP in power today, and every potential Liberal leadership contender fighting for the top job, helped Justin Trudeau break the country over the last nine years,” he said.
Nothing has changed.
Every Liberal MP and Leadership contender supported EVERYTHING Trudeau did for 9 years, and now they want to trick voters by swapping in another Liberal face to keep ripping off Canadians for another 4 years, just like Justin.

Singh Reacts
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh issued a written statement saying that Justin Trudeau “let down Canadians,” accusing the federal Liberals being “focused only on themselves and their political fate” rather than how to respond to a Trump administration in the US and issues like housing affordability and health care.
Singh took a shot at Opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre and his party, accusing the Conservatives of planning to “cut from people to give more to CEOs.”
Below is my statement on Justin Trudeau’s resignation.
If you oppose callous Conservative cuts.
If you oppose the rich getting richer while everyone else falls further behind.
