Fish harvesters are submitting a bid to the C-NLOPB this morning on what they’re calling a final attempt to protect crab grounds.
Harvesters are frustrated by the expansion of oil and gas in a part of fishing ground 3L, that has been deemed one of the most lucrative crab fishing zones by the FFAW.
The fisheries union says between 40 and 50 per cent of their crab quotas will disappear if government goes ahead with oil and gas developments.
Harvesters will submit their bid to the C-NLOPB this morning at 10:30 a.m.. VOCM News will be there.
