A man at the centre of angry protests by crab fishermen at Confederation Building last year had his unrelated court case called in Harbour Grace this morning.
John Efford is facing four counts under the Fisheries Act of failing to comply with the terms and conditions of a licence.
The charges are linked to his participation in last year’s seal fishery.
Three of Efford’s crew – Gerald Lewis, Ken Stagg and Philip Cole — face the same charge.
In an interview with VOCM News last year, Efford acknowledged the charges but said any wrongdoing by him or his crew was entirely unintentional.
Lawyers told the court this morning that one more postponement is necessary to iron out some issues.
They said they should be ready to move forward “toward a resolution” when the case is called again in February.
Efford, who became an unofficial spokesperson for the FFAW during last year’s crab protests, is the son of the late former MHA, MP and cabinet minister John Efford Sr.
