Today marks a grim anniversary of a virus that shocked and changed the world for months on end.
On this date in 2020, health authorities in the central Chinese city of Wuhan reported the first death of what was then known as the coronavirus.
Nearly two months later, in mid-March, Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, identified the first presumptive case of COVID-19. Two weeks later, then-Premier Dwight Ball relayed the first death of COVID-19 in this province.
Five years later, things have dropped drastically. From December 29th to January 4th, there were two hospitalizations due to COVID-19 and no deaths.
