Elizabeth May Steps Down as Leader of Green Party

Elizabeth May has stepped down as leader of the Green Party of Canada.

She made the announcement today. Her resignation was effective immediately.

Deputy Leader Jo-Ann Roberts has been named as her successor.

The American-born May has been leader of the federal party since 2006 and has served as MP for the riding of Saanich-Gulf Islands since 2011.
