The president of the NLTA says there are several positive themes coming out of the Education Accord’s interim report.
One of the items that Trent Langdon is in favour of is a proposed “ecosystem approach” that would see an easier transition and streamlined processes as students make their way from the K-12 system to post-secondary and eventually into the job market.
Langdon states that is something teachers have been wanting for years.
He says it is “not uncommon” for the school system to “inherit problems” at 8 a.m., and they are the ones who are expected to have it fixed by 3 p.m. He argues that the ecosystem approach would help address that, as well a wraparound services and social safety nets for children.
