The response thus far to a survey on the future of policing services in the province has “far exceeded expectations,” according to the minister responsible.
The Policing Transformation Working Group developed the survey in consultation with a number of other stakeholders, many of which represent vulnerable people.
Justice and Public Safety Minister Bernard Davis says so far the survey has garnered about 3,200 responses, but officials are hoping for more ahead of the Jan. 22nd deadline.
Davis says the survey is designed to uncover issues that might not be top of mind for government.
He says they want to make sure they hear peoples’ concerns about what the future of policing should look like.
He says the Policing Transformation Working Group has made recommendations before, including through the public safety review in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
