A man is facing serious charges after holding RNC officers at knife point at a home on Torbay Road.
Officers were called to a complaint at the home just after 9 p.m. and could hear a commotion taking place inside.
A 40-year-old man involved was no stranger to police and was known for having a violent history.
As officers attempted to get a handle on the situation, the man broke out a knife to fend off police.
Additional units rushed to the home, and following a brief struggle, the man was taken into custody.
The man has been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon on police, two counts of assaulting a police officer, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and resisting arrest.
