PC Leader Tony Wakeham is slamming Premier Andrew Furey’s trip to Washington DC for the inauguration of President Donald Trump as a “waste of money.”
Premier Andrew Furey has defended the trip, arguing that it in no way indicates that he is in favour of any of Trump’s ideologies, and that he was there to stand up for workers who will be affected by tariffs on Canadian imports.
Wakeham disagrees, saying that Furey should not have spent taxpayer money on the trip when one is already scheduled for February 12th with the Team Canada Approach.
When asked what he would be doing differently, Wakeham says he would be spending time developing a plan to deal with the tariffs.
He says both provincial and federal plans are needed to support industries if the tariffs are put in place.
