Olympic gold medal winning curling coach Toby McDonald will be laid to rest this Friday.
McDonald, who was part of the Jack McDuff Rink, the first Newfoundland rink ever to win the Brier, passed away on the weekend at the age of 75.
McDonald also coached Brad Gushue’s Team Canada rink to Olympic gold at the 2006 Winter Games in Italy.
Waterford Valley MHA Jamie Korab was one the team. He that McDonald’s influence will have a lasting impact on the curling community for many years to come.
He says McDonald spent a lot of time at local curling clubs teaching the next generation of curlers.
